GSIS, LTO, IC SIGN PACT TO LINK SYSTEMS FOR FASTER, FOOLPROOF VEHICLE INSURANCE PROCESSING

June 17, 2022

The MOA signing, held at the GSIS Conference Room in Pasay City on June 8, was participated in by GSIS Core Business Sector EVP Nora Malubay (second from right) and Chief Information Security Officer Jonathan Pineda (rightmost); (from left) IC Chief Information Technology Officer Edwin Cornelius Lauz and Comm.Dennis Funa; and LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante.

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) recently signed an agreement to link its IT system with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Insurance Commission (IC) to make the processing of motor vehicle registration faster, more economical and at the same time, curb fake insurance cover.

The interconnectivity among the three agencies is made possible through a secure and protected integrated system that allows GSIS to request relevant information on motor vehicles online from LTO and IC and obtain responses on a real time basis. This spells faster processing of Certificate of Cover (COC) which is a requirement for LTO registration. All the information necessary to process motor vehicle insurance are available in the system such as COC reference number, chassis number, engine number, motor vehicle classification, among others. The system ensures that all insurance policies are registered in LTO’s Motor Vehicle Inspection and Registration System that confirms the authenticity of the insurance cover.
