Moderated by Sec. Harry Roque:
Nasa 162,514 po ang ating daily rate of doses administered base sa 7-day average as of May 23,2021.
(audio inaudible) ...Ang AstraZeneca ay may 70.4% vaccine efficacy based on Phase III Clinical Trial (CT) against symptomatic COVID-19 at 100% against severe COVID-19.
Ang Sputnik V ay 91.6% against symptomatic COVID-19 at 100% against moderate or severe cases.
Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe - Representative to the Philippines, WHO:
Let me clarify the COVAX Facility committed to provide vaccines to cover 20% of the Philippine population.
That 20% of the population was determined to be the frontline healthcare workers and the elderly population, and the reason for that is this prioritization is based on WHO recommendations so that COVAX Facility vaccines are used to maximize the impact on the pandemic by reducing death and to ensure that the frontline health workers are actually protected.
While recognizing the other groups are important, it's clearly defined the largest number of deaths, severe cases are from A2 elderlies. We continue to urge national, local government's to follow prioritization to maximize the impact of donated vaccines.
We've completed the review of Sinopharm, it's now listed as a WHO-listed EUL product. WHO has sought clarification from Sinovac's manufacturer, we await that information.
We believe in the next few weeks that once that clarification is received, WHO will be able to reach a conclusion about listing Sinovac as a possible EUL candidate.
From the point of view of preventing severe disease and death, all of the vaccines the WHO has listed under EUL are capable of doing it.
Dr. Edsel Salvaña - Technical Advisory Group Member, DOH:
It's important we remember all vaccines with EUA are very effective against severe disease, which is the most important outcome for all our vaccines. Alam naman natin ang COVID ay 10 to 20 times more deadly than the flu.
So, in terms of vaccines from a scientific standpoint, the best vaccine you can get is the one that's there already. If you wait for your preferred brand, 'di na mag-hintay ang virus bago ka ma-infect. If you'll get infected, you can die.
As long as alam naman ng tao kung ano yung ituturok sa kaniya before iturok sa kaniya, I think that's enough. Pwede naman siya mag-refuse at that point.
Safe at effective naman po lahat ng bakuna and we urge everyone to get whatever vaccine's there because they all work.
